Last week (17 October 2014) the Visitbrighton Convention Bureau team showcased some of the city’s quirkier venues to representatives of the British Council, who were in town to seek out unusual options to hold evening receptions during their annual conference in December.
The main event, including a gala dinner, is being held in the city at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from 10-11 December 2014. Up to 500 delegates are expected to attend, bringing in an estimated £461,000 of economic benefit to the city.
Commenting on her trip to the city, Emma Robinson, Account Manager for the British Council’s Services for International Education Marketing programme, said: “Our annual event attracts delegates from 50 countries as well as the UK so Brighton’s excellent airport and train links mean getting to the conference will be easy for everyone. We’ve been really impressed with the range and quality of venues in the city which are very good value for money compared to other UK conference destinations.
“We’ve really appreciated the support of the VisitBrighton team who have been incredibly efficient and helpful and added value to our event. They have not only helped us select some great unusual venues but also provided a hotel booking tool for delegates and even furnished us with maps and discount cards for some of the city’s best restaurants and shops.
“The December event, together with the destination, has proved to be a very popular choice so far, with UK delegates in particular, who I suspect may also be planning to take advantage of Brighton’s many brilliant boutiques for their Christmas shopping!”
