Extraordinary Collections of the Industrial North West
As the cotton mills boomed, bringing development and deprivation hand in hand, prominent North West industrialists privately, and sometimes secretively, poured their wealth into some of the finest and most astonishing collections in the country.
From 31st January – 19th April 2015, the magnificent and eccentric mansion will be transformed into a casket for the exquisite treasures of this extraordinary group of Lancashire magnates. Exceedingly rare Roman coins, priceless medieval manuscripts, Turner watercolours, Tiffany glass, Japanese prints, Byzantine icons, ivory sculptures and even preserved beetles and a Peruvian mummy.
Host an unforgettable drinks reception or dinner with exclusive access to the house and the exhibition, and show your support the Lancashire museums being showcased.
