Driven by an ethos and commitment to being a green hotel and conference centre that promotes a positive culture towards environmental awareness, Weetwood Hall is awarded Green Tourism’s highest level of sustainability award.
LEEDS – Weetwood Hall Conference Centre and Hotel in Leeds has been re-accredited with the Gold Tourism Business Award by Green Tourism, the largest sustainable certification programme in the world.
A qualified assessor for Green Tourism carried out an accreditation grading visit at Weetwood Hall in Headingly, Leeds. The assessor awarded Weetwood Hall a whopping 82% and an award status of Gold, the highest award presented by Green Tourism.
Weetwood Hall scored a mark of either excellent or very good on all of the different criteria evaluated during the Green Tourism Assessment, including management, marketing and communication, social responsibility and equality, energy saving, water issues. Purchasing, waste minimisation, travel and transport, nature and culture and innovation.
Green Tourism spoke of how well Weetwood Hall has done to obtain a Gold Tourism Business Award, stating:
“Weetwood Hall Conference Centre and Hotel have done well to gain the GOLD award on Version 5 with the Green Tourism programme. There are a number of great sustainable practices happening within the hotel from notices with bedrooms to encourage guests to recycle products during their stay to the excellent green page on the website.”
Achieving a Gold Tourism Business Award is testament that Weetwood Hall is committed to maintaining an accountable and genuine approach to working towards being sustainable.
The whole of the Weetwood Hall team are excited by the prospect of implementing more methods to develop sustainability within the hotel further, such as establishing a ‘green team’ and the possibility of creating a carbon management plan on the site.
